JPA Diagram Editor released with Indigo

The new Eclipse is a fact - Indigo is out! And along with it - the JPA Diagram Editor!

A few months ago the JPA Diagram Editor came out of incubation phase and became a component of the Eclipse Java persistence tooling - Dali. You can have it just by visiting Eclipse web site and downloading Indigo (for Java EE developers).

This new release comes with a lot of bug-fixes, additional features and partial support for JPA 2.0 - unidirectional one-to-many relationship without join table.

As part of the process the humble author of this blog became the JPA Diagram Editor component lead and Dali committer. His colleague Petya Sabeva also became Dali committer. The editor was presented at:

EclipseCon 2010 - Santa Clara, CA, USA (as poster)
Eclipse Summit Europe 2010 - Ludwigsburg, Germany
EclipseCon 2011 - Santa Clara, CA, USA

It was nominated for Eclipse Best Developer Tool award for 2011.

All this wouldn't be possible without the strong support of the whole community. Special thanks go to:

Neil Hauge        - Dali project lead
Kaloyan Raev   - Eclipse WTP PMC member
Petya Sabeva    - Dali committer

and all the other involved community members.

We continue our work and hopefully will be able to present the improved version of the editor at EclipseCon Europe (Ludwigsburg, Germany) and Devoxx 2011 (Metropolis Antwerp, Belgium).

Eclipse JPA Diagram Editor 0.5.0 released

I'm happy to announce that the JPA Diagram Editor project version 0.5.0 was successfully released! This release is compatible with Eclipse IDE Helios and requires Graphiti 0.7.0 version. Check the project wiki for installation instructions.

This release comes out with a lot of bug fixes. There are some enhancements left for the next release.

The JPA Diagram Editor 0.5.0 is enabled for JPA 1.0/2.0 projects although it should be used to visualize JPA 1.0 compliant entities only. The next release will have full JPA 2.0 support.

I'd like to thank my colleagues Petya Sabeva and Kaloyan Raev for their support and commitment on the project. Acknowledgements go also to Ram, Tuukka, Alex and all the other community members who helped us with their bugs logged in Eclipse Bugzilla.
The JPA Diagram Editor was presented at Eclipse Summit Europe 2010 and its JPA 2.0 compliant version will be presented at Eclipse Con 2011.

Stay alert for the next release!
